I checked out the recipes. They look awesome! I managed to pick up what looks like a brand new Krups ice cream maker today at a garage sale for $8. I think we'll try the lemon yogurt with blueberry sauce (one of my husband's favorites).
We also really like the bourbon butter pecan at Jeni's. Any thoughts on how to adapt one of the recipes?

I'll start thinking on that one (bourbon pecan). That one might be a little tricky because I know at Jeni's they use a ton of bourbon (which makes it oh so delicious); however the alcohol will prevent full freezing, so I'm not sure you can get the intensely bourbon-y flavor and still retain the great texture. Maybe I'll do some experimenting.
I also really want to try the lemon yogurt, since that is pretty much my go-to flavor at Jeni's! I have everything on hand except the cream...suppose I should have bought it at the market yesterday... _________________ http://www.restaurantwidow.com

| The alcohol is exactly what I am concerned about. The lemon yogurt is in the freezer hardening as I type . . . it tasted pretty darn good before freezing. I'll let you know how it turns out!

| I made the vanilla recipe last week and it was AWESOME! The churning took about 30 minutes in my mixer (it's kind of old). It was eaten up too fast, unfortunately, but that just means I'll have to whip up another batch. It is really nice not to have to deal with egg yolks.

| We made the vanilla bean recipe today. Wow. I think that's the best vanilla ice cream I've ever had!

I also made the vanilla ice cream today...amazing! I'm going to serve it with some fresh raspberries and blackberries I picked up at Costco.
Can't wait to try the strawberry yogurt recipe - do you think I could use Greek yogurt instead of regular? I have several containers of Fage which are close to their expiration date....

Hi Flyer Fan! Welcome to the forum!!
I made Dulce de Leche today (recipe soon!), and it is really good - probably the best texture I've had so far (of course, there are stabalizing ingredients in the leche, which no doubt helps).
I used Fage yogurt when I made the lemon yogurt, and had good success. I think it helped because I was using lemon juice from a bottle and didn't have any zest to add. Because the greek yogurt was so thick I could use a little more juice and still have a good consistency. Also, you can use yogurt weeks after its expiration date, especially plain, unopened yogurt. _________________ http://www.restaurantwidow.com
