They don't really need my support, but just wanted to say that I had one of the best meals out that I've had in a while at Basi this past Sat. Had the hangar steak, which was done just right, and a creamy and wonderful side of polenta. My girlfriend's dish was even better -- pork tenderloin w/ a sour cherry reduction sauce and perfectly grilled asparagus on the side. We split a mixed greens salad to start -- that featured sliced red onion played off against orange slices. Their bread w/ a cream cheese-based spread was, I swear, one of the best things I've ever put in my mouth. Asked the server was in it, and she said, among other things, caramelized onions. I'm tellin ya, I could've been happy with just the bread & spread. Splurged a little on the wine (Banfi "Cum Laude" Super Tuscan) and was glad I did. The chocolate dessert was rich and good but unnecessary, I'd already OD'ed by that point. Hadn't darkened their door in a couple years, and I can't recall the place being this good on a couple previous visits. I like the thought that some restaurants, like some people, improve with age....
